GOHS Announces 2016 Mobilizations

The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety has announced the schedule for 2016 mobilizations, during which law enforcement will be out in full force, patrolling for signs of driving under the influence and other safety violations.

It’s a good idea to drive safely everyday, however, drivers should use extra caution when driving during these dates.  Encountering an unexpected roadblock, or being pulled over by an officer can be an extremely stressful event.   In the state of Georgia, drivers can be arrested if they simply appear to be under the influence – even their BAC test result is less than 0.08 grams – due to the Less Safe law.  Less Safe convictions need to be taken just as seriously as a DUI.

Drivers can empower themselves by being aware of increased police activity on our roads during specific times of the year.  The dates for this year’s mobilizations include the:

  • One Hundred Days of Summer HEAT Traffic Enforcement Campaign, May 16-Sept 5, 2016

  • Memorial Day Click it or Ticket May 16-May 30, 2016 (National Mobilization)

  • Operation Zero Tolerance Fourth of July June 20-July 5, 2016

  • Operation Zero Tolerance Labor Day August 22-September 5, 2016 (National Mobilization)

  • Hands Across The Border August 29- September 2, 2016

  • Thanksgiving Click it or Ticket November 14- November 27, 2016

  • Operation Zero Tolerance Christmas/New Year's December 16, 2015-January 4, 2017 (National Crackdown)
